Intervention On Call Founder/Trainer
My name is Sam Davis, and being an Interventionist is such an honor – I kid you not. It is so rewarding to be on the receiving end of a phone call from a family concerned and looking for help for their loved one. From my own experience and the experience of my family, I’m well aware of the amount of fear that had to be faced and overcome to even make the call to a professional. I’m aware of the depth and weight of the pain and fear in a family member when the realization hits that what the family has been doing up until this point hasn’t been working and that to continue on, as is, is no longer an option. I know the frustration of looking at the computer at the hundreds of websites of therapists and treatment facilities, wanting to pick the right one, but terrified of choosing the wrong one. I’m aware of these things because I’ve been there, on both sides. First, as an addict that tore my family apart at its core. I was in and out of institutions, my kids lives, and my parents bank account. My values and morals took a backseat to getting high even though I had the best intentions of being a good father, son, brother and husband. My family stepped up, stepped in and intervened with the help of a professional interventionist. They followed direction and held boundaries. As a result, I am sober today. Second, while in sobriety, I was faced with family that had taken the path of active addiction. It was then that I realized the emotions and often denial that my other family members experienced while dealing with me and my addiction.
After working in other areas of the treatment field, I found that I had a talent for helping addicts and their families. I like being on the front lines battling addiction and helping people get their lives and families back. When I’m guiding a family through this process, helping them with what and what not to do, I have the peace and satisfaction of knowing that I’m doing exactly what I’ve been created to do, help others. Sincerely,
